The 2024 Ayrshire Schools Orienteering Competition was held on the 30th of May in Dalry Park. The weather stayed dry and sunny and it was an ideal opportunity for children to participate in an exciting sport.
Results
All the children appeared to enjoy the experience and an atmosphere of keen competition developed for some. Sadly there was a small entry this year, so there were only enough competitors to award one team trophy, for the Primary 6 and 7 girls, which went to St Patrick’s. There was a very close result for the Dolphin House Trophy, awarded to the best performing ‘small school’: St Patrick’s just managed to gain more points overall than Newton Primary. However, it should be noted and applauded, that all the children from Newton completed their course and came in the top 3 places for their particular class.
Well done to everyone who took part, and thanks go to our club members for helping out on the day. A special thanks to Hugh, who kindly opened the Community Hub building for us so that we could use the facilities.
